I am constantly in the process of developing marketing content for my website and recently became aware of Grouped: How small groups of friends are the key to influence on the social web.
Author Paul Adams is widely recognized as one of the leading thinkers on the social web.
He demonstrates how to understand three related things:
- Social behavior. Why people do what they do, why they share some information but not everything, what they talk about and don’t talk about, and how they observe the behavior of others to understand how to act.
- Networks. How networks scale, from our friends, through friends of friends, and through their friends.
- How people think. Relationships and interactions between people, between people and products, and how people perceive the world.
Adams does an outstanding job of developing the structure of marketing content built around people. He shows how to focus your energy on understanding why people share, and on using that understanding to create products and content that will be shared by small groups of close friends.
