This is your chance to own a piece of Duesenberg Racing Department history.Wouldn’t it be great to own a piece of Duesenberg racing history at a reasonable price? This is your chance! It is an extremely limited offering of bricks from the former Thompson Pattern Shop at 1532 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. The second floor of the shop housed the Duesenberg Racing Department during its heyday in the 1920's. This site is recognized by the Indiana State Register of Historic Sites and Structures. All of the Duesenberg entries for the 1924 Indianapolis 500, including the winning car co-driven by L.L. Corum and Joe Boyer, were built at this site.
Thompson Pattern Shop Copyright © 1966 Car and Driver This photo from the era shows Duesenberg mechanics easing a completed racer down two ramps from a second story window. In the following decades, the building’s heritage was obscured by the businesslike effects of subsequent occupants. On December 16, 2003, a fire spread through the structure and it was reduced to rubble. This brick is one of 15 salvaged from the site when the debris was being loaded for transport to a land fill. This is your chance to own a piece of the building where the Duesenberg brothers built their famous race cars.
